Some years ago, Dave was reading a book that quoted Bill Gates as saying that he saves up all the books he wants to read and then reads them all at once. He’s so busy that it’s difficult for him to find the time to do all the reading he wants to do. So, when he finds a book he wants to read, he sets it aside with his other to-read books and then spends an entire week at his cabin getaway ALONE at least once a year. He becomes a reading maniac. That’s all he does for the entire week is read, catching up on all the reading he missed in past months.
Can you relate?
Sometimes, family and other responsibilities get in the way of your all-important education. If you’re going to be very successful in your small business, you’ve got to treat it like a business. Part of that process is taking your business and marketing education seriously. Not only do you need to fork out the money for books, courses and seminars, but you’ve got to spend the time mapping out a plan from what you learn. Then, put it into action. Stay focused.
Why am I bringing this up now?
A little over a week ago, Dave and I received a well-anticipated package in the mail — The Underground Secrets Seminar Videos from Yanik Silver’s Underground Seminar a few months ago.
Yes, the videos (DVD’s) and audios were expensive… $800. But, we knew they would be well worth it. We had been looking for some fresh ideas to take our business to the next level. We forked out the money and waited with great anticipation.
Back to the story…
With five little distractions running around our own home, we certainly felt the need to get away. Try as we might, Dave and I simply couldn’t dive into the videos without one distraction after another. It didn’t seem to matter how early we got up or how late we went to bed, the distractions kept coming.
This seminar was not for beginners. It required some serious listening. You had to put on your thinking caps to catch the passing (almost buried) comments, process them and then take them to a different level. Each time we had a distraction, that thinking process came to a screeching halt and we were never able to get to the level we wanted.
There was some really good stuff in those videos. It became very apparent they would help us reach our goals.
Solution…
So, we put all the videos and audios back into the Secret Underground briefcase in which they came and put it aside — out of site. Then, Dave called a hotel in a neighboring city. He asked for a good-sized room with a good lounging area and TV where we could spread everything out and do nothing but study and learn for an entire weekend.
Ahhh…
It worked! We packed a small bag, Dave arranged for his mother to stay with the children, and we left the following weekend.
The room was perfect. We sat in our pajamas all weekend long and watched the videos, one after another, rewinding to parts again and again. We left the room only to go to dinner nearby, then returned to lock ourselves up in our studying cacoon. It was intense. It was exhilarating. We had headaches by the time the weekend was over.
But…
It was immensely worthwhile. At lunch on the way home from our weekend retreat, we sat in the corner of the restaurant mapping out a plan that will improve our bottom line by many hundreds of thousands of dollars. Six “aha” ideas we got from the speakers fit into our business model like a glove.
It took Yanik’s seminar tapes and a solitary weekend to achieve a plan and the focus we needed to take our business to the next level.
By the way, if you are not a marketing beginner and can afford the price tag, these videos are well worth getting. Problem is Yanik is taking them off the market in two days (August 19th). We’re not resellers of this product, but I can give you Yanik’s own link. This is the link we received directly from Yanik in one of his emails (the link we used to purchase the product ourselves)… http://www.undergroundinternetsecrets.com/doubleagent/
If you’re lucky enough to get your hands on this package, you’ll need to set aside a good amount of quality time to listen and absorb the information.
Of course, I highly recommend renting a hotel room for the weekend!
