Why should we have to choose between Raising Our Children and
helping to provide the income we need for our family?
We live and work a lifetime, but we only have a short while to
raise our children. Parents should not have to miss 40+ hours
each week of these special years with their children.
Let us show you how you can work at home and and still have time
for those special years. We are a group of parents who are
working from home, Raising Our Children and helping others
achieve their dreams of doing the same!

_________________________________________ A Little Fear Couldn't Hurt Anyone...Could It?
Recent terrorist attacks have left the world in fear of what
is to come.
But, a little fear couldn't hurt anyone, could it?
Would it surprise you if I said it couldn't. Then why in the
world have Franklin D. Roosevelt's infamous words, "We have
nothing to fear but fear itself," so oft been quoted.
First of all, let's put this fear thing into perspective with
a quick physiology lesson.
The feeling you have when you are afraid is simply your body
responding to conscious or unconscious signals that something
is amiss or out-of-the-norm. The blood rushes out of the
stomach, creating the "butterfly" sensation. Your body is
letting you know that digestion is not a priority at the
moment. Your body then releases adrenaline and the heart
starts pounding faster trying to get oxygen out to the limbs.
Your body has put itself on an emergency alert.
While in this emergency, physical state, we often hear of
people able to perform great feats they would not normally be
capable of performing.
The human "fight or flight" response is instinctive. It can
help you if you use it constructively, including making great
strides in your business' success.
My thought is that what Franklin D. Roosevelt was referring to
was closer to panic — a sustained, often immobilizing anxiety.
Panic or anxiety is anything but helpful. It can keep you
from thinking straight, considering your options, and acting
decisively.
Panic is what we saw the day after the terrorist attacks when
people ran to the gas pumps to fill up their cars, and to the
store for gas masks and stock-piled food.
How does this panic work on our psyche?
National Geographic documentaries and movies such as "Jaws"
have fed people's fears of shark attacks for decades...fears
of the Great White Shark.
Such fears, however, are largely unfounded. According to
Nature Publishing Group, "Only seven people this century have
been killed by the Great White Shark, the man-eater of the
movies -- fewer than the number killed by bee stings."
Between 1990 and 1997, there were 28 deaths of children from
television sets toppling over on them. That's four times the
number of deaths compared to an entire century of deaths from
Great White Shark attacks.
Moving closer to home and the recent terrorist attacks, let's
consider some statistics on air travel.
Admittedly, I've had a small phobia of travelling by air for
some years. I've travelled all over the world: Argentina in
1984, Bolivia and Peru in 1987, Israel and Italy in 1994. I
haven't let my fears keep me from getting on an airplane.
Admittedly, however, I do find myself a bit uncomfortable
during flight. And, the recently hi-jacked planes certainly
haven't helped my fears. I can't help but wonder how many
others are experiencing similar feelings. Anyone care to
admit it?
Now, let's put some logic into this and look at the risks of
air flight from a statistical perspective. What are the odds
of dying in a plane crash?
The NTSB's (National Transportation Safety Board) figures for
1996 showed that, statistically, a passenger would have to fly
24 hours a day for over 438 years before being involved in a
fatal accident. Arnold Barnett, a Massachusetts Institute of
Technology statistician, calculates the risk rate from 1990 to
1996 as having to pick a flight at random every day for 21,000
years to be in a fatal accident.
And, what's the risk of flying compared to driving?
In the United States, it's 22 times safer flying in a
commercial jet than traveling by car. The number of U.S.
highway deaths in a typical six-month period — about 21,000 —
roughly equals all commercial jet fatalities worldwide since
the dawn of jet aviation four decades ago. In fact, fewer
people have died in commercial airplane accidents in America
over the past 60 years than are killed in U.S. auto accidents
in a typical three-month period.
Yet, a fatal car crash receives hardly a mention on the local
news; while a plane crash gets national coverage, often
extending for days, even weeks.
But, what does this have to do with your small or home-based
business?
Fear taken to a level of anxiety or panic is immobilizing. If
you agonize over what a depressed economy will do to your
business, you will not be able to achieve success.
It is natural to experience fear from the atrocities that
have transpired, as well as to have concerns over their
affects on the economy and your business.
But, what will you do with that fear?
Will you allow it to consume you?
Or will you take the adrenaline and the emergency state your
body naturally provides from your fears to perform great feats
in your business while getting rougher times?
As internet marketing consultant David Dimas asserts, "To
survive in a war economy you must be willing to work harder
and smarter."
There you have it. Fear for better or for worse. What will
you do with it?
It's time to shift your efforts into high gear.

Since today's Featured Article stresses the importance of
working harder and smarter, Dave and I thought we'd have a
little fun by giving you a link to the "List of Lazy
Entrepreneur Ideas." (grin)
Actually, I spent way too much time at this site the other day.
It's part of the very funny Dilbert comics site. The List of
Lazy Entrepreneur Ideas' motto is "all talk, no funding."
Gotta love Dilbert!
If you've got an idea for a product/service or if there's
something you'd love to have, you can submit your idea. Then,
people comment on the feasibility of the idea. New ideas are
submitted daily.
I found plenty of ideas that made me laugh, others made
me go, "Aaahh." You'll find ideas ranging from a
rectangular toilet plunger to an absolutely uncrashable
computer. Who knows, perhaps someone has already posted
an idea you've had. But, just a word of warning, if you do
post, you'll get plenty of Dilbertish comments.
Ideas sorted by the date submitted, most recent first:

most_rec/lazye_most_rec_1.html
Search ideas from A to Z. This link happens to be for "C":

Spark your creative juices, but most of all HAVE FUN!
