7 Keys That Will Allow You to Take 
      Positive Control of Your Business Now

No if's and's or but's about it.  Life and your business 
changed on September 11th.

There are new boundaries for advertising and selling.  What 
might have sold well on September 10th, may not sell well now.  
The entrepreneur must realize today that business has changed.  
The attitudes of the American consumer as well as many 
throughout the world literally changed overnight.

While there may seem to be plenty to worry about, you don't 
want to get caught up in the negativity.  There is power in 
positive thinking, power that can move your life as well as 
your business in wonderful directions, even...no...especially 
during trying times.  It's almost as if this power were 
tangible.

Dave and I have been reading Robert Collier's volumes of 
The Book of Life, written in the 1920's.  Fascinating reading.  
I highly recommend them.  Collier asserts that the greatest 
discovery of all times is what he calls the "life principle."  
He explains, "This is the greatest discovery of modern times — 
that every man can call upon this 'life principle' at will, 
that it is as much the servant of his mind as was ever 
Aladdin's fabled 'Genie-of-lamp' of old; that he has but to 
understand it and work in harmony with it to get from it 
anything he may need — health or happiness, riches or success."

For purposes of this article, I'm expounding on a different 
angle of Collier's "life principle" — the power of being 
positive.  This power is more than a thought, it is a 
resourceful tool that, when put in motion, works in harmony 
with good things in your life, your business as well.

Below I offer seven things you can do right now — 7 Keys — to 
take positive control to begin this powerful tool working for 
you.

1) Don't view yourself as the average person.
The fact is, the average person rarely achieves success.  Most 
people who are successful travel their own road.  They dare to 
break from the herd.

2) Follow your passions.
Do something you enjoy.  You will find you will be able to 
take your business to a greater depth when you do what you 
enjoy.  Then, keep yourself on track by remembering why you do 
what you do.

3) Get control.
You don't just magically become successful.  You've got to 
make it happen.  In other words, you need to plan your 
success.  Look for tools that can help you to get organized.

4) Surround yourself with positive people.
If you hang around people and events that are negative, they 
will surely bring you down.  Get inspired by others who think 
and act positively.  Read a biography of someone who succeeded 
against the odds.  Robert Collier whom I quoted earlier, for 
example, made his success during times of war and depression.  
People who are positive have ALL overcome obstacles.  They can 
help you reach your goal.

5) Inspire yourself.
Place posters and positive quotes in conspicuous places around 
your home, especially in areas where you work.  Put your goals 
in front of your face where you will see them everyday.  

6) Reward yourself for benchmarks along the way.
Reward yourself for the small victories — for your first so 
many subscribers to your newsletter, your first sale, your 
first 50 pages of your book written, and so forth.  It's easy 
to get so focused on what you haven't accomplished that you 
lose sight of what you have done.  Put up reminders by your 
computer or workplace of rewards you will give yourself when 
you reach those goals.

7) Envision where you will be five years from now.
After you have a plan for yourself and your business, you'll 
have a vision of yourself and where you would like to be in 
five years from now.  If you keep focused on that vision, you 
will be able to overcome obstacles as they arise.  And, I can 
assure you they will arise.  It's what you do with them when 
they come that matters.

Once you have taken steps toward these seven keys, something 
will happen.  Your life and your business will go forward in 
positive directions.

You will embrace this power and find there is nothing you 
cannot do.
