A warm welcome from Heidi and Dave to our new subscribers.
Phew! We made it through this Christmas season in our home.
Actually, this was one of the more enjoyable holiday's we've
had. Each of the children got a new instrument and we filled
our home with music. We also took the children to four
different music concerts in the past several weeks. It has
been invigorating!
Dave and I hope you have taken some time during the holidays
to spend quality time with your families and to simply change
gears. If you are chained to your office all day, not only
will you begin to resent your business, but your family and
friends will too. Lock your office door for a full 6 hours
one day this week and don't go near it. You'll be glad you did.
On a humorous note, Dave has been cleaning out tons of old
equipment that we had stored away. Looking at technology from
just a few years ago compared to what we have today is
laughable. Our seven-year-old son is very electronically-
minded and has been taking apart our antiquated computers in
order to save the parts to make robots...486 computers with
200 meg hard drives. Yikes!
We've come a long way, baby!
Now, our two HP Laser Jet printers...that's a whole other
story. They just keep ticking and ticking. Dave looked at
the dates they were purchased, one in '93 and the other in
'94. They work just as well today as the day we purchased
them. No complaints here.

In last week's featured article (view it online at

Dave and I discussed what the week before December 25th and
the following two weeks would bring and some ways you could
best use them for your business.
Now is an excellent time to purchase advertising. Not only
can you get some very good deals, but it puts you in an
excellent position to take advantage of the back-to-business-
as-usual rush later next week. There are excellent
advertising opportunities. Take advantage of them. We've put

Thus far, our site's stats have followed quite closely with
what we had said in last week's issue. Here are some
interesting stats, some that might surprise you:
Where we usually receive an average of 28 new subscribers per
day, our stats went slowly down beginning one week before
Christmas. There was a huge drop in traffic to our website as
well as a major drop in subscribers (only 6 per day) on
Saturday and Sunday. On Monday, the day before Christmas,
things picked up slightly, with a noticeable rise on Christmas
day. Then, the day after Christmas (Wednesday) we were back
to normal with 27 new subscribers. Today will be a very good
day. It is not quite 5 pm and already we have 28 new
subscribers (will probably end the day with around 36).
The moral of the story is, "Business does not have to sag just
because it is the holidays." Some retail sites will see a lag
throughout this week, but many others will not.

Here we are facing a new year. There will be plenty of advice
given you for making New Year's resolutions, plenty of

But, I'm not interested in those resolutions today. No, all I
can think of at this moment is you.
Like myself, you are probably in the frame of mind of
reminiscing the past year. Perhaps you see yourself as a
dismal failure, perhaps as a glowing success.
But, however, you see yourself at this moment, there is one
thing, and only one thing I want to tell you now...
"You can do it. I know you can!"
Have you had failed businesses? So what. So have I.
Have you wasted money on useless products? I have too.
Have you wanted to venture out into a business but were too
afraid to try? Been there, done that.
The point is, you're not alone. What's important from this
day on is not what you've done or haven't done, but what
you've learned from your past. Will you take those failures
and successes and allow them to take you in positive
directions?
I know you will.
Many will tell you it is a tough time to venture out and start
a business. To that I say, "Humbug!"
This is as good a time as any to pave your own success. Great
things can happen to you this year.
I know they can.
2002 is your year. Run with it. Make it happen.
