I was planning to sell my software online with my credit card. But, I was wondering if I am legally allowed to sell my software without owning a company. Thanks.

I'm not sure how you plan to SELL your software using your credit card. Credit cards are what you use to BUY things, not sell them.

In most countries, you need a bank account and a merchant payment facility. The merchant services provider may require you to have a company, but many don't. PayPal needs you to have either a premium account or business account.

I think you need to clarify what you need before proceeding.

Thank you for your reply. I was planning to sell my software on Sellfy site where people sell digital stuff. On that site, you need to register your PayPal account. I already have a bank and a visa, when I tried to make a PayPal business account, they required "Bussiness name" and "Bussiness address". The question is, do I need to own a real company in order to create a PayPal business account? Do people sell stuff without having a company? Thanks.

In most countries you can use a business name (which you need to register) without needing a company. It's simply you trading as that business name. The business name typically does NOT give you any kind of ownership of that name, but other people or companies can't use it (and you can't register a business name being used by anyone else).

Registration identifies the person or company using that business name in case of legal issues, taxes, etc. You can be identified and traced.

PayPal business accounts can be a company name, business or trading name or your personal name. Or you can use a premium account, which doesn't offer all the features of a business account. You must have a bank account in the same name for PayPal to accept your application.

My advice is to talk to someone who knows what to do — try the government department responsible for business names registrations. And talk to PayPal. You need to get this RIGHT, from the beginning.
