I do think that you can make it as low cost or expensive as you want, It probably will also depend on the approach you have in mind,
if you just want to have a Website (or possibly only a simple Blog) that basically is not much more than an 'Online Business Card' with some
basic info about the products you sell, contact info and possibly with a few attractive photo's, that might possibly attract a little more people
to visit your bakery? Or do you really want to have some big online order system where people can order your products Nation Wide?

Internet marketing helps you to attract prospective customers who are already looking for the products and services that you offer which enables you to reel in those prospects who are ready to make a commitment.

Bob Wan-Qui knows his stuff, but it's not really for raw beginners. Still, I recommend subscribing to his YouTube channel. His advice is good, and you'll soon be able to apply it if you set up your online marketing intelligently.

His channel description is very true... consumers today are NOT the same as even 5 years ago. They know when you're not being genuine (yes, plenty came down in the last shower, but preying on the gullible and ignorant is a fast track to a bad online reputation these days).

So let me get specific about your own small business: by its nature (a bakery) I'm going to assume that your primary market area is very limited and local. (Correct me if I'm wrong, please.)

That narrows your focus and options — but this is GOOD news!

It means that people relate in a highly emotional way to freshness and cleanliness when it comes to your products, as well as to imagination and creativity. So you can target strong emotional appeals (eg: smell and sight) and build powerful emotional bonds with your customers. And you can get them referring new customers regularly!

Market communications doesn't have to be expensive. What ends up being expensive for most small businesses is their own ignorance and inexperience when it comes to promoting their businesses. So they end up shelling out in all directions because the media reps spin them unbelievable deals and offers full of urgency and scarcity that they get little or no results from.

Give equal time to your marketing as you give to your products — and do it relentlessly.

Go where your customers are — but do it right, and for the right reasons... not just because so-called "experts" say it's what you should do.

While bread is the staff of life, it and other bakery products are also very much impulse buys, so capitalize on that reality.

In 2012 and beyond you need a market communication strategy that integrates these components:

  • A local directory entry that links to your web site (simple!) and your mobile site. Both should be simple and basic, but attractive and super-easy to navigate.
  • An integrated mobile and social media system that's easy to maintain and manage (and tracks and reports results, trends, feedback, etc) and includes in-store and on-line events, promotions, etc using coupons, social media (Twitter, Facebook, etc) and email campaigns, all controlled by your promotional calendar and overall strategy.
  • A Facebook Fan Page that's tightly integrated with your mailing list (email), your mobile/social system, coupons, events, promotional calendar, etc.
  • Training that's direct and no-fluff in how to actually do all this — including training for a staff or family member assigned to maintain your system and monitor and manage your reputation online.

Believe me... this is where everything is headed, and you can be way ahead of your local competition even if you only get it partially right!

By the way, market communications is actually what most people are really referring to when they talk about marketing.

More about this in coming days. Watch this space...

The best marketing platform would be Lead Generation. It is a big help for your business.

Lead generation is not a marketing platform. It's an important (but vital!) early stage of any intelligent marketing strategy.

We really need to stop bandying these buzz words and phrases about without understanding what they actually mean.

It's one of the primary reasons why marketing is so badly misunderstood, confusing and poorly done by most businesses.

Marketing through email is a very effective method to communicate with your customers. Generally it is very economical, and if properly done, can help create brand identification and dependability.

The effectiveness of email marketing is still dwindling, and open rates are still falling. So your big challenge with email marketing will continue to be getting people to actually OPEN your messages, let alone actually read and act on them.

Mobile marketers will continue to apply the same self-defeating tactics on that platform until the phone companies step in to stop them.

Practices like SMS spamming and Bluetooth proximity spamming will continue to mushroom until the abuse causes such an outcry that telcos actively implement blocking technology.

That's the one thing you can always count on: predatory, parasitic sellers will never stop looking for ways to get through to you, no matter how hard you try to ignore or stop them.

They just don't get it and never will.

Your first comment is correct. Your others are not entirely accurate.

For example, advertising is a form of selling (the highest leverage selling activity when it's done properly), but selling is only one of seven parts of the marketing mix. Commissions, discounts, etc are all part of the pricing part of your marketing mix, which is separate from advertising.

You can learn more about these in this FREE Insight Report available from here…

If you are doing a business you must market your business in a proper way. You can prefer Internet marketing as it is very cost effective and helps your products or services to be sold through the Internet.

Internet marketing, also known as web marketing, online marketing, web advertising, or e-marketing, is referred to as the marketing (generally promotion) of products or services over the Internet. Internet marketing ties together the creative and technical aspects of the Internet, including design, development, advertising and sales.

I guess I need to keep harping on this point, because so many people just don't get it:

Most of these terms are NOT interchangeable.
They do NOT mean the same thing.

  • Scroll up to the image of the FREE ebook and click on the link to download YOUR free copy.
  • Then READ it to learn the differences.
  • STOP misusing these terms — it only makes you look ignorant and incompetent and undermines your credibility.
