I typically use Quicken every year and go through that to pull business deposit data, and try to figure out expenses.

I'd like to use a simple book to just write in these things every month rather than waiting till the end of year.

We file taxes as home & business with standard 1040 using turbo tax.

Small business, video production, mom and pop shop.

Any suggestions?

Thanks, David Stembridge

I'm not clear on why you don't simply use Quicken throughout the year?

That way you can keep your income and expenses, etc up to date and produce monthly (heck, weekly and even daily) reports at the click of a button, including balance sheets, profit and loss statements and more.

I have used quicken through the years; but my business already involves so much time in from of a screen. I'm looking for a means of having something that lets me use a pencil! :)

Ah, so you think transcribing those pencilled figures several times will be somehow faster? :\

No... obviously not, just looking at ways I can disconnect when possible. One thing that has always been a bit tricky is the setup. I use a couple of credit card acts, and amazon as well as occasional debit card transactions for business purchases. Having all of these in one place isn't somethingI've been able to figure out. Perhaps thats my draw to using a notebook of sorts.

Whatever floats your boat. :)

By the way, I have a old abacus in my basement. It might help with calculations?
