Hi John,

If I may be so bold I think I can explain why so many SEO "experts" don't back up their claims with hard evidence. I have learned how to SEO my own site from the ground up, and along the way I have encountered probably 5 posts containing misinformation or completely irrelevant SEO "tips" for every useful one.

I have come to realise that the world of Google optimization in particular is not only hugely competitive but also constantly changing. If I were to reveal all of the things I'd learned in my 12 months on the job it'd take the fun out of it for the rest of them!

Seriously though, the old cliches are usually proven true - you have to make a site that people want to use with good content that's relevant to your chosen keywords. Then of course comes the external links from sites like your own.. but then you know all about that.

Sorry... somehow missed this post.

The Bottom Line: what you're saying here proves my point — that verifiable evidence needs to be provided to support any claims or assertions.

Nice point you have here, sometimes I read things that can be written with good intentions, but that's not true! Because the algorithm of search engines is mysterious, nothing is official, and the need to make us more skeptical about SEO and always check all the time our assumptions.
