Hubspot is offering a FREE download of a 25 page PDF report on SEO trends for 2015.

In the land of Search Engine Optimization it's hard to know what’s outdated, what’s important, what will actually move the needle, and what’s simply a wasted effort. And, since SEO algorithms constantly get updated, it's quite difficult to keep up.

This new ebook uncovers the SEO trends of 2015 and explains which old tactics no longer give your site SEO credit. Download this guide and learn the answers to questions such as:

  • Does having a secure, "https" website matter for SEO?
  • What is Google Authorship and why does it matter?
  • Does Google still care about local search?

I'm astonished… NOT ONE of the horde of SEO operators (90% of members of these forums!) has even read this post, let alone taken advantage of the FREE report from HubSpotthe acknowledged leader in online marketing systems!

*Scratching my head in bewilderment here!*

Thanks for this report John.

I've been working in the online marketing industry since around 2003. I regularly read articles on Google's latest updates and what people are saying to be the new best tactic. In my experience, SEO hasn't really changed much, it's just that Google has cracked down a lot more on dodgy practices.

For example in 2010 our aim was to create quality backlinks from relevant high ranking websites, regularly add engaging and quality content to the website, and do this as part of an overall marketing campaign (both online and offline) to get a mix of traffic. In 2015, our aim is almost identical, with more of a lean towards mobile devices and social.

One thing that astonishes me is how much everyone believes SEO tactics have changed, and whilst the finer details have indeed changed, it is these old proven methods that still seem to be king.

Thank you indeed for your post, I would like to give my own answer

Does having a secure, "https" website matter for SEO?
I think YES but mostly for site with payment processing like eCommerce stores. Google wants to show secured shops first.
What is Google Authorship and why does it matter?
I think Google Authorship when you have a site that fully detail specific niche. Yes it matters.
Does Google still care about local search?
Yes to show local search for local places.
