The only issue is that a lot of people are signing up for Twitter because they think it will be good for their business but they don't really understand how people use Twitter in the first place. All business owners / employees assigned to manage the company's twitter should start by using Twitter on their own to understand the "culture" - only then can you really utilize it for your company.

A couple of years ago, major businesses and companies were reluctant to use twitter but now it's an important part of their successful campaigns. However, it's full of spammers and non-serious people. Most of the DM's i get are usually spammy or promotional. So in my opinion the best thing to do well on twitter is staying human and unbiased.

Twitter is so popular for my opinion because it gives you the possibility to be closer to people that interest you, mostly celebrities. There is no doubt that spammers take advantage of it.

I do agree, there are lots of spamming going on but not everyone. There are ways to reduce following spammers. Its possible to target just the right people that will have interest in what you are offering while reducing Spam. Keep in mind Spammers don't keep their accounts for a long time thus you need to unfollow those accounts that are not following you anymore and this on a daily basis.

Twitter spamming wont workout, since most people unfollow those who send or post spam tweets...

I'm just now trying to learn how to use Twitter properly but even I know that DM spamming is counterproductive. It always amazes me how many people think that's a good way to network with people. I'm not perfect. I make plenty of mistakes when marketing but one thing I won't do is DM spam on Twitter, Facebook or anywhere else.

Mind explaining what you mean by DM for our less experienced folks?

Jargon and acronyms don't always make for good communication.

Sorry John. DM means direct messaging. It's just a private message between two people that no one else gets to see as opposed to a tweet or a wall post or this forum post which everyone can see. I hope that's a good enough explanation.

Thanks for that — it's too easy to forget how many inexperienced people use these forums to help them get started or to evaluate their prospects for success. :)

Hello guys,

In my point of view, twitter is a social networking and microblogging service that allows to send short text message 140 characters in length called tweets.

Have a nice day !!!

Hi,
In my opinion Twitter is a service for friends, family, and co–workers to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent messages.
