Hey, I do PC repair on the side (advertise on craigslist and such), but am going to go pro. This means business license and such. Part of going pro apparently, is keeping an invoice from all the transactions. I have looked up software for invoicing (on mac), but I dont know how it would work. I thought people will have to hand sign invoices, so how does software come into play? For example, is there a program that lets people sign electronically through an iPad app? If hand signatures are required, do I scan the invoices and keep them in the computer, or do I need to keep the paper/physical versions? Essentially, what is the cleanest / smoothest way to make, use, and keep invoices using software? Any apps you particularly recommend?

(side question), am I allowed to post a sign outside my home stating that I do PC repair, if the manager allows it? I live in California.

Invoices don't require a signature, so it's a simple process of creating and delivering it, either physically or digitally. The simplest way would be to include the invoice with the PC you repaired when you return it.

Almost all bookkeeping applications will let you generate invoices as part of their integration functions.

Signage outside your home will most likely be subject to local statutes and regulations at city/county level.
